From the beginning, the work of Jesus Christ has put His followers on mission. We will soon celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the feast of the Pentecost. Church historian Venerable Bede (672-735), in one of his sermons, remembered this event in the Church as a time when God “opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of the Holy Spirit” and “shed abroad this gift through the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
The mission of Christ has always been defined by and empowered by the work of the Holy Spirit. In the month of June we will focus in on the mission Christ has given us and how we can take part in it today.
Here are a few things to help us focus:
June 9 Our celebration of Pentecost (Acts 2)
June 15 Faith Church members will provide transportation assistance to international Archbishops in town for the ACNA Provincial Assembly
June 16 Bishop Ndayirukiye from Burundi will be our guest preacher
June 17-19 A team from Faith Church will serve the international work at the ACNA Provincial Assembly
June 26 A time of prayer for our team serving in Columbia in July and for all our missionary partners
June 30 A missionary serving in the Arab world will be our guest preacher
